Little Lies For Hannah Montana

GARLAND, Texas - A 6-year-old girl who won four tickets to a Hannah Montana concert with an essay falsely claiming her father died in Iraq isn't going to the show after all.
The girl won a makeover that included a blonde Hannah Montana wig, as well as the grand prize: airfare for four to Albany, N.Y., and four tickets to the sold-out Hannah Montana concert on Jan. 9.

The opening line in the essay was: "My daddy died this year in Iraq."

Hannah Montana ticket winner loses prize

This is just absolutely ridiculous. Don't get me wrong. I totally understand that the little girl wants to see Hannah in concert. I remember being a child and wanting to do or see something. I also remember that I was usually told the family couldn't afford it or didn't have time, or whatever. Yes, I remember being disappointed, heartbroken even. But I lived through it, a few tears, some pouting and I was on to the next thing I wanted. Such is the life of a child. You rarely get what you want just because you want it, when you are young.

But this? This is horrid. The girl was 6, SIX! Could she really come up with this terrible lie on her own? I don't care if you support the war in Iraq, or think it is a waste of time. It is still a war, soldiers are still dying, families are still suffering.

To make up a story like this just to win some concert tickets is just a mockery of those that are truly hurting from the loss of their loved ones. What kind of person would not just allow but encourage a child to do this?

The mother says in an interview: "We did the essay and that's what we did to win. We did whatever we could do to win,"
What the hell? There was no WE in this, that little girl did what her mother told her to do. I understand that a mother would want to make her child happy, but this is a bit much. "We did whatever we could to win" so what are the limits? Would she encourage her child to steal? to hurt someone?

If you look at it, this is exactly what she did. She told her child to LIE about losing her dad in a bombing. Not stealing or hurting anyone you think? Bullshit! Many people were hurt by this lie. Every single person that has lost a dad, or a mom, or sister, or brother, or anyone was hurt by this. It makes a joke out of the pain you feel when some one you love dies.

People wonder what is happening to kids today, why are they shooting each other in schools, why are they stealing and killing for a pair of shoes or an ipod.

Well, look at what this mother taught her child: Do whatever you can to get what you want. It doesn't matter if it is right or true, just do anything to get it. It may seem like a big step from writing a fake essay to shooting a kid in school, but it isn't. The attitude is the same: Do whatever you can to win!

I am glad this little girl lost the prize. I hope she looks at her mom every day and asks her: Why did you make me lie? I hope the mother learns that this attitude isn't the right way to go.

But you know what? I don't think they will. I think the mom will blame the mean old contest people, and tell her little girl that they were just mean or evil for not giving her the prize. And this parent will keep on teaching her child to win at all costs, and that if she doesn't win it is because someone else got in the way.

With parents like this, is it any wonder our children don't give a shit about anything but what they want? That kids today don't think twice about stealing or even killing people to get things they want?

We look at these children and wonder why do they do these things? Stop looking at the child for a minute and take a good hard look at the parent that raised them with this attitude.

Now this is a good reason why certain laws are up and charges are made. This is why a lot of people grow up to be murders, killers, or whatever the heck they want.
Being able to win something by using your own words and the truth is being true to yourself and having the feeling of accomplishment is better than anything else in the world.

Thats horrible.
Parents have a responsibility to teach their kids right from wrong. If they can't do that, they shouldnt have kids.

It's sad that the mother made the child do this. Yes, I've lost a few loved ones in the wars, but would NEVER use it as an excuse to get something... Plain and simple as that. Let alone... Have a CHILD LIE about it... Is just horrendous. The child is getting punished for something that she was told to do. The mother should get what's coming to her... And thats all that's said.
So either way... She is unable to go to the concert... Why not spare everything... And just had her not do the damn essay? OR do it... But be honest and truthful about it... And lose fair and square. Thats all I've got to say.
